GTA 5’s PS5 Controller Support Will Allow You to Feel the Weather, Road Surfaces
One use of the DualSense controller that we adored in Astro’s Playroom is the way some levels allow you to feel the sensation of raindrops in your hands. It’s something that developers have been hesitant to replicate, so hats off to Rockstar for going the extra mile in GTA 5. The developer’s upcoming next-gen remaster actually sounds like it will use the full range of PlayStation 5 features, including the ability to feel Los Santos’ weather.
Writing on the PlayStation Blog, here’s what it said specifically of PS5’s innovative controller: “Feel every moment of the action through the DualSense wireless controller’s adaptive triggers and advanced haptic feedback, giving players the ability to experience new sensations such as changes in the road surface texture, additional sensations from specific weather effects, directional damage, feedback from explosions, and more.” Sounds great!
Support for the next-gen console’s unique feature-set doesn’t end there, however. GTA 5 will finally have rapid loading times thanks to the SSD, and is getting HDR support at long last. Of interest to us is support for 3D audio as well, which should help to make Los Santos feel livelier – like the bustling city it is. “Hear the action with pinpoint precision with Tempest 3D AudioTech, from the throttle of a stolen supercar, the rattle of nearby gunfire, the roar of a helicopter overhead, and more.”
Sounds good, then, but we’ll reserve judgement until we’ve gone hands on ourselves – the GTA Trilogy has shattered our confidence in the studio somewhat. It better be good, though, because it’s looking unlikely that there’ll be a free upgrade path for GTA 5 if you already own the title on PS4. We suppose Rockstar was never going to forego another 50 million or so sales, was it?
